Volunteer Opportunities

We offer a wide range of opportunities for people who wish to support Covenant House Alaska through gifts of time and talent. Below you’ll find several volunteer options for both individuals and groups. Our goal is to find the best volunteer experience for you; one that matches your schedule, interests and skills.

As we serve youth 13-20 years old, we ask that volunteers be 21 years or older. Youth can volunteer by organizing a service project or donation drive.

For more information, or to get involved, please contact Covenant House Alaska’s Volunteer Coordinator at (907) 339-4261 or by email.

Individual Opportunities:

Job Groups/Life Skills. Use your individual expertise to host an educational group for our youth. These groups encompass a wide range of topics designed to enhance a youth's capacity to succeed. Examples of topics include: personal finance, preparing for a job interview, or a possible career path.

Food Service. Help to prepare and serve lunch or dinner for our youth.

Recreation and Groups. Facilitate and supervise healthy activities, such as arts and crafts, music, or athletics for our youth.

Mentor. Provide guidance and be a positive role model by becoming a mentor to one of our Transitional Living residents.

Sort, Wash, and Organize. Covenant House Alaska is always receiving clothing donations. Volunteers are needed to sort through donations, and organize our clothing room.

Janitorial. Help us to keep Covenant House Alaska clean inside and out, providing a healthy enviornment for our youth to thrive in.

Special Events. Help make our special events possible. We rely on volunteers for our annual Fire & Ice Gala, Candlelight Vigil, holiday preparation, etc.

Group Opportunities:

Throw A Celebration. Work with our staff to plan a special event for Covenant House Alaska youth. Traditional, non-traditional, or totally random — it’s entirely up to you!

Squeaky Clean. Help us keep Covenant House Alaska clean inside and out. Rake leaves, shovel snow, or clean needed areas around the facilities.

Sponsor A Collection Drive. Collect new socks and underwear, and gently-used business attire and casual clothing for our youth through your church, workplace, school or other organization. See our wish list for current needs.

Youth Group Options. While young people under 21 cannot interact directly with Covenant House Alaska youth, they can get involved by organizing a collection drive or participating in a service project.
