Covenant House Youth Advisory Board
The Covenant House Youth Advisory Board is a forum that provides Covenant House youth an opportunity to share their wisdom, insights and frustrations. Our youth have experienced a variety of challenges in their young lives and the Youth Advisory Board allows us to honor their experiences. Participants are invited to share their stories, learn about issues impacting youth and to advocate for themselves and for other young people who might find themselves in need of Covenant House Alaska Services.
The Youth Advisory Board is open to all current and past residents of Covenant House Alaska. The board meets on a weekly basis, even if there are no specific agenda items to discuss. On those nights, the youth engage in the Gavel Club, a Toastmasters International communications and leadership program. As an affiliate member of Toastmasters International, Covenant House Alaska has the benefit of using their training materials to assist in leading the members of the group in becoming Competent Communicators & Competent Leaders.
